ANA B777-300 First Class "The Suite" LHR-HND
I’ll start by saying, it will be difficult for any trip to be all around better than this experience on ANA’s new first class called “The Suite”. The cover photo is from the IFE system on upon landing, if this gives you an idea of what is to come quality wise.
Note: This flight took place before the pandemic hence services may have changed.
I arrived to Terminal 2 early in order to get a nice visit to Singapore Airline’s first class lounge which accomodates ANA first class passengers. See the review under the Lounge section of this website by clicking this link. Here are a couple of photos to whet your appetite, so to speak.
Not being able to contain my excitement I headed down to the gate early. This flight left at 7PM London time and arrives the next day at 3PM in Tokyo.
The aircraft after arrival in Tokyo the next day.
Breathtaking would be the word that came to mind upon boarding.
And a sneak peak at “the Room” business class cabin.
After seeing the size of the IFE screen you probably aren’t surprised at the size of “The Suite”.
One could nitpick and say the walls don’t provide the kind of privacy that for example Air France or Singapore’s new A380 Suites provide, but I am not going there. These are plenty private.
Controls, storage and tray are more than sufficent. And there is no pod wall in front of the window like “The Square”!
When it comes to sleeping, well my point about privacy is made. And the bedding is excellent.
ANA is well known for the way they welcome you in their first class cabin. Flight attendants address you by your proper name and always lay out the welcome mat.
The amenity kit and pajamas were distributed. I do like the ANA pjs and they hold up well after washings.
Lavatories on this newer Boeing 777. I love that they put a drop down mat you stand on to change clothing.
The in flight entertainment system shines in The Suite. The monitor is HUGE and 4K I believe.
But I hate these hand held controllers. Even this new one was stuck and I couldn’t get it to release. (Probably my only complaint!)
The ANA safety video at the time featured a kabuki theme which was quite entertaining as was this popular movie at the time. A huge plus for #avgeeks are the on board cameras ANA added to these 777s.
ANA FINE DINING EXPERIENCE
First let’s look at the Beverage offerings during this flight. 18 pages!!!
I took advantage to the best of my ability, which admittedly is pretty pour. haha, dumb I know. But wow…
Then on cue.
Then something I’ve only done on ANA. And yes I am on the London flight.
I repeat, WOW.
Now the Food menu. I down loaded a PDF of the menu before leaving as well as showing you the actual onboard menu
ANA has one of the better amuse-bouche in the sky.
Of course a meticulous place setting by the amazing flight attendant(s) on this flight who left nothing for the complaint department.
Buy the way, Krug goes very well with caviar!
Then it was on to the soup and salad portion of the meal which pretty much tells you what cuisine I selected.
Becoming predictable as well was my choice of mains. Yes, this dish was served on a plane. But I’m not buying the [377kcal] from the menu.
Ok, I can get through this…
And…
This is a 12 hour flight. After the meal and going comatose for a good portion of the flight I attempted to eat something else, well because it was available. And so many good things were available. I decided to try something “Japanese” so ramen noodles it was. While delicious I was still too full from the prior meal the night before to finish. What a feast on ANA!
Everything about this flight was perfect. By far my best flying experience to date. Why no 10’s?, well you never know what the future holds. Kudos ANA on your The Suite. Now please, pretty please, install it on all your 777s.
